Something To Celebrate!

Hello lovelies, guess what? Today marks the one year anniversary of launching my blog!! Wowie wow wow, a whole year dedicating so much time, effort and patience to this online documentary of my personal style endeavors!

Check out my first month of blogging here in the April 2012 archive. (The very first entry is at the bottom.)

Even in just one year’s time my blog has evolved so much. I’m sure many of you recall the plethora of different layouts and color schemes I’ve used over the year. Of course the biggest change of all, was changing my blog’s title and domain address. Yes it’s true for my new readers, Rebecca Glam is formerly known as “It’s Called Style, Baby.” Some of my old photos have my old domain watermarked onto them. I changed my blog title to something more simplistic and memorable last fall. What a PAIN that was! If you ever decide to start a blog, make sure you are going to love the name/domain for the long haul, because it is not fun or easy to switch once you’ve established something.

Now that I’m all settled in with my blog, I’m still on the hunt for the perfect header for my site. A graphic that is crisp, clean, unique and glamorous. Not sure if I’ll ever get it, but maybe someday. I hope to continue on with my blog, and progressively get better at it with time. I knew nothing about blogging or having my own site when I started this journey last year… and frankly I still don’t! Hahaha. Okay okay so I’ve learned a lot, but of course there’s always room to grow.

Here’s a lovely little anniversary photo compilation of the past year’s style and blog posts.

Since a year ago today, my blog has received over 30,000 hits!!!

I’d like to thank everyone who pushed, supported, shared, advised, liked and read my blog over the year. Special thanks to those that have shared my blog on their Facebook feeds, told their friends about it, commented, and who really interacted with my blog. Seriously, even the littlest comment means a lot to me. Without people being interested, I wouldn’t have motivation to continue on. So THANK YOU ALL SO SOOOO MUCH! You’ll never know just how much I appreciate all of your support. <3

Much love,

Rebecca

Off to the Theatre! (again)

The Book of Mormon recently played for a few months in Hollywood at the Pantages Theatre. I had heard so many good things about it, and saw that it was nominated for quite a few awards so I definitely had to see it.

For my girlfriend’s birthday, I scored us hot tickets to the show with fantastic seats! For my outfit, I ended up creating a look that mixed a classic vintage look, with some edge. If I could go back, I would have dropped the edge, and just kept it classy glam but what can you do, this is my look for the night:

One of my favrite beauty looks is platinum hair, dark eyebrows and red lips. I melt any time I see it, and love to pull it off myself. I know I know, a lot of people can’t stand dark eyebrows with light hair… but you know what I can’t stand? Bleached eyebrows!!!! What the heck is that?!

Where are her eyebrows?!??! Oh yeah!!! She BLEACHED them!!!

Moving on…

This gorgeous dress I scored at a sample sale in downtown LA for a mere 10 bucks. This dress retails for 90 dollars! The shoes are my fabulous Prickly’s by Jeffrey Campbell and of course my clutch is Big Buddha.

Loving the sleeve detail, and how the edges turn slightly upward.

After a lovely dinner at a nearby restaurant, we headed over to the gorgeous Pantages Theatre for the night’s show. Needless to say, the musical was fantastic and quite impressive with the actors, songs, and visual presentation. I especially loved the seemingly authentic African tribal costume and chant done in the “airport scene” towards the beginning.

Overall it was a fantastic show and the even the audience was great. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time and playing dress up beforehand was almost as fun as the musical itself.

Life in platinum.

I don’t know about all those other blondes, brunettes and redheads…. but I do know that life in platinum is WAY more fun!

Make it up with make up.

Feeling a little tribal on this night. I often build a look around a set of colors, an accessory or a single article of clothing. On this night my green, purple, black and white feather earrings that I bought from Beth Nouveau on Etsy took over my look.

Using green, purple, and a shimmery tan I painted my lids. The tribal dots are simply done with eyeliner and a steady hand. If anyone knows of a better make up for tribal paint jobs, please do share. After the shadows were on, I used loose purple glitter to go over the purple shadow for some sparkle! To apply loose glitter I’ve found this amazing product by Hard Candy, which you can find at Walmart:

Best glitter glue, EVER. Just make sure you’re using glitter specially made to be worn as make up, and not craft glitter! I love glitter and this product makes it soooo easy to wear.

This make up look is fun, different and definitely stands out in a crowd. And if anyone looks at you and says “why?” Well then you say, “It’s called STYLE, baby.”

Thank YOU for reading. <3

Goth’s not dead.

Although I am not an avid follower of the “goth scene” I do love gothic fashion. There certainly is a difference between “high school” gothic fashion, and elegant, more mature gothic styling. That means leaving those extremely riveted, faded black bondage pants in the attic. Naturally, the color palette of any gothic ensemble will mainly be blacks, grays, whites and reds; all lovely colors to build an outfit with.

These photos are from a casual day out to lunch with a friend of mine. He busted out his iPhone, and we went on a photo taking spree.

These pants are black on black leopard print I found at Ross for 10 bucks. The jacket is plain black with faux fur around the collar and wrists and has a zipper front closure, with a belt that wraps around as well, $25 on clearance from Hot Topic. Add in a few silver funky accessories and some hot platform boots, and the outfit is complete! Oh yes, and red lips. Always red lips.

You just can’t go wrong with all black, leather and fur. ;)
