Ahhh yes, the prevailing question I receive almost on a daily basis… “How do you get your hair like that?”
My response? “I have an amazing hairdresser!”

Yes it’s true, my hair dresser is fantastic. Her name is Vero and you can find her on Facebook at VeroScissorHands.
Almost 5 years ago at one of my routine hair appointments I told Vero I wanted to go blond. Little did we know what we were getting ourselves into. Going blond and staying blond is NOT easy. Incredible amounts of maintenance and long hours at a chair are whats behind this amazing platinum color upon my scalp. Vero, being the great hair artist she is, took the challenge and has continued to stay with me throughout the years. As I stated before, platinum is not easy on either side (hairdresser or client). One session for retouching roots, wash and style usually takes 4 to 5 hours, and that’s about every 6 weeks or so. She has the patience and I have the desire.
To keep my hair healthy and platinum white:
- I wash my hair only 2-3 times a week.
- I use Shimmer Lights purple shampoo, which helps eliminate yellow tones and brassiness and whitens and brightens platinum hair.
- After every wash, I blow dry (although it is recommended to blow dry as least as possible) and then I spritz on “It’s a 10″ leave in conditioner. This leave in conditioner is light, smells good and does a great job keeping my hair healthy.
I also use the “It’s a 10″ hair mask about once a week as a deep conditioner that I rinse out. 
Proper care and hair products are essential when going platinum! Bleached hair equals weak hair, so give it nutrition and take care of it! And unless you really know what you’re doing, I’d always leave bleaching to a professional. Bleach is just one of those chemicals you don’t want to mess up with.
I also get asked what toner is used on my hair, and the answer is Paul Mitchell Rapid Toner in Ultra Violet. It works fast and creates a gorgeous silvery lilac color once rinsed out.
Another reason my hair is still looking good after all these years is that Vero takes the time to individually foil each little section over my whole head. This insures that the bleach doesn’t overlap or touch the shaft of my hair. Sometimes, when bleach is just painted on without care, the bleach can touch other parts of the hair and cause breakage and severe damage.
