When World’s Collide.

Start with a vintage wool hat from the 1940′s…

Then grab a fringed infinity scarf…

And wear the infinity scarf in a whole new way!!! Almost all infinity scarves made of lightweight material can be worn in this way to create an entirely different look. Cool right?!?!?! Use a small safety pin to keep the scarf in place.

Clearly I’ve melted a few different style elements together for this outfit. As you know, I don’t dress to any one style ever… I like to change it up, and mix and match fashion themes to my heart’s desire. If I was to dress my personality, this is what it would like. <3

Wearing:

Hat: vintage (circa 1940′s)

Purse: Betsey Johnson

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Jewelry and leggings: Downtown Los Angeles

Skirt and tops are all basic staple items found at random places.

Flea Market Fun

Is that a cut up, studded pajama top I’m wearing?!?!? ;)

Aren’t these amazing?! Hair picks from my one of favorite accessory designers, Antickquites. You can find her link at the bottom of the post.

Who doesn’t love flea markets?! If you don’t, you’re crazy… UNLESS it’s the “flea market” in San Bernardino… then I get it. The San B flea market is more like a giant outdoor grocery store selling Dial soap and expired bags of Funyuns. If you’re lucky you might be able to get a new garden hose at a decent price, but other than that, chances of finding vintage or unique items are better at other flea markets outside the Inland Empire.

Luckily the fabulous city of Long Beach has a rather large antique market held once a month a few miles from where I live, so my girlfriend and I had to check it out. I was feeling gold hardware on this day, so I had to bust out my JC spiked Litas!

I was really impressed with the Long Beach market. I was in heaven with all the vintage booths selling arrays of vintage jewelry, hats, furs and clothes. I even came across a beautiful Christian Dior fascinator style hat from the 60′s! I got a bunch of cool photos of unique items, but I accidentally deleted them all off my phone. Booooo.

I did manage to save one photo that you may have already seen posted on Instagram. As I was combing the aisles, this necklace came into vision and my eyes focused in on it while everything else just blurred around it. Perfection!

This necklace oozes glamour all over! I loved it! It reminds me of the necklace that Caroline wears on the hilarious television show: Two Broke Girls.

The necklace was beautiful and grand sitting there just begging me to take it home. Unfortunately $75 dollars was not in my budget for a necklace. Oh well. Perhaps it will come to me later in life.

I did end up finding a black mourning hat made of wool and with a netted veil for $5. I will most likely alter the hat so it’s not so depressing looking. Perhaps I’ll remove the veil and add some colored feathers into the band. I also scored this vintage, chunky, gold link necklace from a seller for a negotiated $8.

A fun and successful day at the Long Beach flea market!

Leopard love.

Going out for a night on the town calls for an edgy, fashion forward ensemble that is sure to turn heads. For this night I chose to embrace my love for leopard print.

This outfit screams fashion forward, fashion savvy and fashionista! I found the shirt at a small boutique in downtown LA and it was priced at $72, which is CRAZY. It’s not a name brand, it’s not quality material and it’s NOT worth $72!!! The guy running the joint tells me he’ll give it to me for $55, which is STILL crazy. I continued about the store and then found the same shirt on a mannequin, and I sighed heavily… once I see something ON a mannequin a new wave of “must have” comes over me. I decided to try it on…. JUST TO SEE how it looks on me, you know? Of course I was falling for this shirt, and I was falling hard. It truly was love at first sight, I just tried to ignore it. I finally asked the guy, “How about you give this to me for $40…” I was hoping he’d say no, because I really didn’t even want to spend $40 on a shirt. Of course he said okay! Even at $40 this shirt is overpriced considering the quality (its polyester), but I justified the cost due to the unique appeal.

Gold accessories matched the leopard and black perfectly. The necklaces are from a flea market, the big gold pyramid ring is from a sample sale, and the gold cuff is from H&M.

I wanted my hair to be sleek, sexy, voluminous and high fashion. I pulled the sides tight and pinned them underneath the teased hair at the crown of my head.

On my ear is an ear cuff I found on Etsy from the seller Antickquities. It is made with brass clock hands. This ear piece has a steampunk feel and is definitely a unique detail of the outfit. This piece actually came with another, to wear on the other ear, but I’m only wearing one at a time. The pieces were a great bargain at $11.

My leopard pants were found at TJ Maxx for 20 bucks, total score! The entire outfit tops my gorgeous Jeffrey Campbell spiked Lita’s for that really edgy feel.

My cute lil bag is a leather Betsey Johnson bag that retails for $200. I happen to work with the lady who reps Betsey Johnson and Steve Madden here in LA, and she totally hooked me up with this bag for $20!!!! A huge part of my fashion skills are made up of hunting, finding and scoring deals. You can do this by shopping at off price stores like Ross, TJ Maxx or Marshalls OR at smaller private boutiques you can sometimes bargain with them. Many boutiques and shops in downtown LA are totally down for bargaining, like the shirt from this outfit. Thrift stores are another great place to score amazing finds for dirt cheap.

The outfit was a hit and really fits my personality. Another fashion mission, accomplished.

Red, white and blue, let me inspire you!

Like most old folk, I adore dressing up for holidays year round. I may skip the tacky, wool sweaters bedazzled with beads, glitter and pom poms… but I make attempts in my own fashion to be in the holiday spirit! Whether it’s Valentine’s day, Christmas or one of my favorite holidays for fashion…. Independence Day!!!!

Red, white and blue is a great color combo, however it’s kind of difficult to rock any other time of the year. (Unless you’re my grandma who is the Queen of Red, White and Blue— seriously, I’m not joking, she was in the newspaper many years ago with that headline. She’s very patriotic!) For the rest of us, we can aim to rock those magnificent three colors roughly about this time of year!

Independence Day is still a few days away, but I’ve already created a trendy, cute outfit just for the day. (Night, of course, is a different story… I have a whole other 4th “party” outfit coming in an upcoming blog post.)

Believe it or not, this is my “toned down” 4th of July outfit. This amazing high low skirt I found at Forever 21 for less than $20!

I have to be extra cautious when kicking when I have these spiked Lita’s on. ;)

This is an awesome stainless steel double finger ring that goes with soooo many different looks, I love it. It was $35 at a small boutique in downtown LA.

By ruffled red bag is by Big Buddha which I found at Ross (for $35) long before I was interning for the company! I love the femininity of it, and the chain adds a dash of spunk.

Love love loved this outfit and I hope you enjoy all of it, or at least some of it! Right now is a great time to find any articles of fashion in a patriotic theme, considering it’s been a hot trend recently. Why not add a little more to your 4th of July and rock those patriotic colors?

If you’re not following already, I would absolutely LOVE you to follow my blog, and in a few days I will be posting my 4th of July outfit, RE-STYLED! You have to have a different outfit for the night right?
