Since I work for the blood sucking, money grubbing corporate “MAN” I am forced to wear a hideous black polo shirt (UGHHH, of all horrible shirts, the polo is the WORST!) and jeans to work at the restaurant. I guess for most people, to work in jeans and a polo would be a dream…. but NOT for THIS fashionista! Oh no!
It’s okay though, having to work with these restrictions on clothing, makes my creativity flourish where it can… with my hair and make-up. I suppose the “MAN” that I work for isn’t as bad as other corporate blood suckers, considering I actually have a good amount of freedom to style my hair pretty much however I please as long as it’s not flying around, landing in peoples’ food. So I take full advantage and frequently wear multiple flowers, headbands, garland, clips, pearls, and pretty much whatever I can stuff into my hair.
I usually like to have a theme, whether it’s a holiday or a color scheme. Here are a few of my favs:
Turquoise, black and white with silver accents.
Obviously…. red and yellow!
Pretty in pink! A bow tie is obviously not a required part of the uniform, but I love wearing one, and the boss allows it, so why not? Anytime I wear a bow tie, I get lots of compliments from my guests and even my coworkers.
So… if you have a work uniform, don’t be afraid to play around with accessories and make-up and see what works and what doesn’t for your job. When all else fails, just stick a flower in your hair! And don’t worry about finding a flower hair clip… just go to your local craft shop and purchase whatever faux flowers you like, and cut them off the stems and stick them into your ponytail or bun! It’s much cheaper than the flowers at the mall, and there are usually a huge variety of flowers to choose from!
On an ending note, the new dishwasher at my job referred to my hair as “unicorn hair.” LOL!
